About Me

Hey, I'm Lance a keyboard enthusiast, software engineer, and occasional sound-profile obsessive based out of Philippines.

How I Got Into Keyboards

It started when I was still around 10 years old when the mechanical keyboard scene is still in its early stage. The only "genuine" option back then was the cherry mx keyboards and they are expensive. Some time later switches like gateron, outemu and other manufacturer switches started emerging and the era of cheap mechanical keyboard came. I remember the very first mechanical keyboard that I own was a Redragon Varuna that came with outemu blue switches (clicky switches were everywhere back then). Then some time later I stumbled upon this one particular keyboard, "Anne Pro 2". It was a 60% keyboard which at the time I have never heard of but to me it sparked something, for me at the time it was "aesthetic" it looks "clean" and I saw a lot of different cases being used on the Anne Pro 2. And so, my very first "custom" keyboard was an Anne Pro 2 in a random wooden case I picked up through Lazada.

That was 10-14 years ago. Since then I've built and reviewed boards across every price bracket, from entry-level hot-swaps to custom group-buy builds, and I've developed pretty strong opinions about what makes a keyboard worth your money.

How I Review

Every board on this site is one I've personally owned and typed on daily for at least a month before writing about it. I personally bought all of these with my own money and this will reflect in my reviews. For each review I document:

  • Sound profile — recorded in a quiet room, described as accurately as I can
  • Typing feel — flex, bounce, key travel, and switch choice
  • Build quality — tolerances, materials, case construction
  • Value — whether what you get justifies what you pay

Ratings are subjective and comparative across boards I've personally used, not against some abstract ideal.

My Setup

When I'm not rotating keyboards I'm writing on a custom hall effect keyboard. My current switch obsession is everglide yaoguang. I use GMK Earth tones for everyday typing and swap in noisier options when I'm not on calls.
